Promoting Residents’ Willingness to Recycle Electronic ICT Waste in China: An Empirical Study Using Conjoint Analysis

Initiated by the Chinese government to mitigate pollution arising from informal recycling, Internet + Recycling model has been evolving and yielding significant results in China over past few years. However, due large amount of users’ personal information contained electronic communication technology waste, residents are concerned about privacy leaks, leading a lower willingness recycle. This study aims enhance people’s recycle waste testing impacts various factors through nationwide survey analysis. Prior research evaluated e-waste collection attributes separately, thus provoking potential validity concerns. Addressing this concern, our study, based on 184 valid entries, employs conjoint analysis determine effects different residential recycling choices. Among considered attributes, trust emerged as paramount, followed compensation methods, price, methods. The high-utility included certification monitoring, cashback, high prices, door-to-door service. Transcending core aim, forecasts market shares for diverse combinations. indicate that there is no single dominant strategy, several combinations substantially influential. Consequently, businesses advised adopt multi-pronged approach using optimal results.
